Published new rules on smart cities

AENOR has published two new rules on smart cities: one on asset management for local and another which includes international urban sustainability indicators.

The Standardization Technical Committee on Smart Cities (AEN / CTN 178) is formed and driven by AENOR sets. This committee involves over 300 experts from the Spanish government, business, and professional associations, and with the support of the Spanish Network of Intelligent Cities (RECI) and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) . He has recently published two new standards for smart cities in addition to the one published in January, the UNE 178 301 Open Data (Open Data) .:

UNE 178 303 which establishes the requirements to develop an asset management system in the city. This rule is aimed at local authorities (municipalities, consortia, councils, associations ...). All are serving, according to its strategic plans to optimally manage sustainable and effective their assets, risks and expenses associated throughout the lifecycle. This gives information on the condition and life of the elements and facilities in the city to optimize acquisition costs and maintenance. In addition, it should allow for better planning in the medium and long term replacements and new acquisitions. It aims to be a tool of transparency to the public.

UNE-ISO 37120 Sustainable Communities. Indicators for city services and quality of life. This standard includes international indicators that help urban sustainability reporting to measure, in a comparable and verifiable development of urban services and quality of life in cities.

In the coming months will new rules relating to other aspects relevant smart cities, as there are more than 40 working lines open. Soon, open to public 12 draft rule, most relevant metrics infrastructure for Smart Cities in Network Public Services: water, electricity and telecommunications, and the Municipal Multiservice Networks.

All these standards contribute to better development of smart cities, standardize and combine technological solutions allow to establish objective indicators and contribute to the development of the industry SmartCity.
