The Gardening Guild of Catalonia has a past, a present and the confidence of a future.
In 2003, the Gardening Guild of Catalonia was established from the merger of the Catalan Association of Gardening Companies and the Gardening Guild of Terrassa and Comarca. Its origins go back to the 19th century, specifically in 1874 when a group of gardening and floriculture professionals founded the Societat Forestal in Barcelona. There have been many changes of name and headquarters of the Forestry Society. In 1890 it was renamed Societat Catalana d'Horticultura and later Foment de l'Horticultura, located at the headquarters of the Catalan Agricultural Institute of Sant Isidre, an entity with which the previous Societat Forestal and Catalan Society of Horticulture. In 1936, members of the Catalan Agricultural Institute of Sant Isidre came together and formed the Gardening and Floriculture Association, some time later the Horticultural Specialties Trade Union was created.
It is in 1976 when the different activities that grouped the Trade Union Guild of Horticultural Specialties are separated and the different Guilds and Associations are created, creating the Association of Horticultural Entrepreneurs, among others.
Later, in 1993, a group of entrepreneurs from Terrassa decided to create the Gardening Guild of Terrassa and the Region. The guild was born with modesty, but little by little it managed to bring together around fifty professionals interested in the improvement and dignity of the sector.
At the end of 2002, the first talks began between the Catalan Association of Gardening Companies and the Gardening Guild of Terrassa and Comarca, these talks immediately bore fruit with the establishment of the Gardening Guild of Catalonia.
The Guild was born from the need to set up a professional association that represents companies as a group, and that at the same time allows for the exchange of experiences and getting to know other companies in the sector. Its purpose is to represent, defend and promote the economic, social, labor, professional and cultural interests of its members before the Administration and social agents. The Guild is a member of PIMEC from which it receives advice on any business matter, as well as various very beneficial services for professionals in the sector and they have maintained a close relationship with the Catalan employers' association Cecot since its establishment.
