Espai Ambiental Cooperativa is a non-profit workers' cooperative founded in 2004 with the aim of designing and managing community socio-environmental projects. We work on urban composting, responsible consumption, food use and urban sustainability through citizen participation and social agents.

Our projects
We have been managing and dynamizing for more than 15 years the pioneering community composting project of more than 60 families in the heart of the Eixample and we have launched two new community composting projects in Ciutat Vella, in the neighborhoods of Barceloneta and Raval.
We advise on self-composting and community composting projects in various Barcelona City Council metropolitan area councils: setting up community composters, revitalizing composting communities, monitoring and evaluating users, training and advising individuals and groups…
We have created and revitalized the Barcelona Community Composting Network. It can be consulted on the Barcelona + Sustainable Map. Since 2017, we have been promoting the creation of a network of urban community composting projects, to facilitate the exchange of experiences, the enhancement of community composting projects and the promotion of new experiences.
We have created and run the annual meeting around urban and community composting: CompostFest: open composting experience.
