Its mission focuses on 4 purposes that refer to Social Responsibility:
Social inclusion, environmental and climate sustainability, ecology, and innovation. To achieve these goals, the Menjar d'Hort SCCL cooperative was created in 2018, with the support of the Social Economy and Cooperative Universities program. They are a non-profit social initiative cooperative, with a clear social and environmental mission, as reflected in their Statutes.
Its services and products are of quality and proximity, produced in an ecological way based on the principles of the circular economy (renewable energies, waste management, biomass production...). In the same way, its production system respects the current European frameworks towards the conservation of wild and cultivated biodiversity, water and soils, as well as traditional varieties and their associated knowledge.
One of their motivations is to offer services and products that help mitigate the effects of climate change and reverse its current trend, so in addition to applying these principles, they are in continuous research to innovate and produce species both plants and animals adapted to high temperatures and drought, optimization of irrigation water, etc.
These actions would be of no use if they did not ensure fair trade and decent jobs in the same way, promoting the socio-labor insertion of people and groups at risk of social exclusion and their training.
In their desire to be integrative, we bet on opening the productive space for socialization and relationships between people through training, meditation, nutrition, therapeutic work or interdisciplinary and participatory research.
They believe that it is possible to do it in a different way, thus promoting a change in consumption habits and paradigm, with the agri-food sector as the central axis.
