Spring is time for intense colors, seductive shapes and sweet and tempting aromas.
A whole show designed to befriend the bees, waking them up from the winter laziness and taking them to their peak activity.
It is at this time that many species of bees (in Barcelona there are more than 200 different ones) need a refuge where to make the nest to lay their eggs. Some, like bumblebees, do it underground, but others, such as wood bees, need dry reeds, old trunks, old holes drilled by beetles in the wood ... and often it is not easy to find them within the city.
In Joan Brossa’s gardens, several bee shelters have been set up, with many interesting features to help you find a cozy home. Protected by metal gabions, we can find different materials with holes of different diameters, ideal for different species to lay their eggs and store food for the future generation. Then the mother will seal the entrance with mud. If we go there these days we will have the opportunity to see how busy they are coming in and out of their new accommodation, and if we are lucky, even the birth of some individuals who open the mud door and see the light for the first time.
