  • Park or public garden
  • Continental aquatic environment

history
The gardens of Tamarita are a living example of a private garden assimilated as a space and public heritage. In this case it is a two-hectare property belonging to the Craywinckel family which, at the beginning of the 20th century, was acquired by the cotton industrialist Alfredo Mata. He built a house there surrounded by gardens, the design of which is considered one of the first works of the architect and landscape architect Nicolau M. Rubió i Tudurí, who preserved the original plant forms and arrangements.

Biodiversity
We can find myrtle, troanas, laurels and large pittospores, as well as rubies and bananas. We also find yews, sour oranges, boxwoods and a cycad. Arriving at the Frare Blanc torrent, we find cypress trees, witch's hemp or acanthus, ribbons, more pittospores and troanas, bamboos and large silver lindens.
In the park we also find curious species such as the araucaria, a grevillea or silky oak, also native to Australia, and a beech with purple leaves. We will also see a tree of local interest of great value due to its scarcity in Barcelona: a 23-metre-tall centennial oak tree .
There is a naturalized pond.

Landscaping and design
It is divided into two distinct areas, one of greater classicism and order and another that takes advantage of the passage of the Frare Blanc stream to offer a more spontaneous vision.
The gardens are full of decorative elements that confirm the origins of home gardens: small ponds with fountains, terracotta figures, stone, marble and ceramic cups turned into fountains, ornamental pots, etc. As soon as we enter, we are greeted by a fountain and a small pond with statues of sleeping lions framed by a creeper that is a type of exotic liana, the filferrera ( Muehlenbeckia complexa ). From here a path leads to a series of squares around the house, this one by Melcior Vinyals, which currently houses the Blanquerna Foundation

In the most classic and orderly garden in parterres of French origin we will find a profusion of boxwoods and rose bushes, replanted to recover the original aspect of the garden in the last rehabilitation. Next, we find a space that functions as a square, with an oval fountain, the square of four continents—all but Oceania—, the work of Virginio Arias, as well as a fountain with sculpted children, while in one of the bordering squares highlights a fountain with sculpted frogs that act as fountains, and another a waterfall made of rock and covered with sea shells and the meadow that leads us to the wildest part of the garden.
