This point of interest is part of the Discover the Green Corridor Itinerary, which links art and nature. It is part of the Desperta Barcelona project. We invite you to enjoy it and get to know the Passeig de Sant Joan and its surroundings through the 6 points, and the 6 video capsules. We accompany you to discover this space, and to inspire you to create a work of art.

2. Once upon a time ...

In the city we find statues, fountains, sculptures, images ... works of art in stone; and we certainly don't look at them, we don't know them, and we don't stop to look at them.

On Passeig de Sant Joan we find a sculpture in a public fountain: the little red riding hood and the wolf.

A European folk tale of which there are different versions, and which has been transcribed, among others, by the Brothers Grimm. It mixes legends and stories, which transport us to forests, wooden houses and paths to explore.

The hood is present in other cities around the world. Stroll the basket full of food through Berlin, Frankfurt or Buenos Aires, and also through Castelldefels.
This sculpture is adapted to the city of Barcelona. He has a pineapple behind his legs. A pineapple of Mediterranean pines.




The sculpture of the hood of Josep Tenas, created in 1921, is quiet next to the wolf. In the tales the wolf is presented as a fierce and fearsome animal, but here they seem to be friends.

The perception of the environment and nature has changed and so have folk tales.
It changes over time and the social context. The wolf that was once fearsome and ferocious, is now friendly and close to us.

There are many stories, legends and tales inspired by nature. Where the characters are animals, they live in a forest or travel to places where green is the protagonist.
